To carry out project assignments in the 
development of new parts and assemblies with 
varying degrees of complexity, difficulty of 
solution and high degrees of creativity.  This 
position will have direct interface with 
Customers and Suppliers to obtain the best 
solution for project assignments.  Applies 
knowledge of engineering principles to design 
products such as Automotive Components, Test 
Fixtures, machines, etc.  May be involved in 
fabrication, operation, application and 
installation of Automotive products.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

·         Coordinates project assignments with 
sales and customer to meet specific requirements.

·         Conducts research, considers 
alternative approaches.

·         Develop new innovations and design 
configurations to incorporate patentable design 
features.

·         Evaluate alternatives to develop most 
promising design approach.

·         Prepares preliminary design and 
detailed drawings.

·         Determines soundness in terms of 
practical design configuration and workability.

·         Performs functional test.

·         Works with Sales, Tooling and 
Manufacturing Departments to resolve production 
issues.

·         Maintains contact with Suppliers on 
engineering related issues, re:  material 
specifications.

·         Submits patent applications.

 

 


Requirements:

·         A college degree or its equivalent in 
years of experience, plus two to five years 
Product/

Project Engineering background.

·         Excellent personal computer skills in 
Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and MS Project.

·         Excellent verbal, written and 
interpersonal communication skills.

·         Strong analytical skills coupled with 
the ability to exercise sound judgment.

·         Work efficiently without significant 
supervision.

·         Prefer knowledge and use in Pro-
Engineer CAD Software.  Additional experience 
with Catia is a plus.

·         Knowledge of Japanese language is 
considered a definite plus.
